First off, before you read any further, I would like to warn you that A) I have never written a blog and B) I’m not that great at talking about myself. So please….bear with me.
When we first began brainstorming ideas about how to have a greater presence on social media as a business, a blog was one of the first thoughts. Immediately we were all excited to write about what we do every day. I don’t think it was until today, the day before our articles are due for proofing, that we all realized what a big commitment writing a blog (and keeping up with it) really is. Anyhow, I’m super excited to share my experiences and advice with you all as well as a little bit about myself. Here is my attempt to tell you about my life in the most interesting way possible:
I’m a pretty simple girl and I live a pretty simple life. I grew up in a little town in Northern Ontario called Hornepayne. If you haven’t heard of it, don’t worry–not many people have. It’s a little railroad town in the middle of the bush, but to me it will always be home. I made the move to Sudbury in 2012 to begin my studies at Cambrian College and I’ve been in love with the city ever since. I’m a bit of a workaholic; I spend the majority of my time working, and when I’m not, I’m spending time with my cats, my boyfriend and my roommate. I’m a very family oriented person as well. I come from a large family – I have three brothers and one sister – so I don’t really think I had much of a choice but to be. I am a recent graduate of the Business Administration – Human Resources program at Cambrian College and I started working full-time with Plan A at the end of April as their Lead Recruiter.
I have always enjoyed dealing with people and the position of a Recruiter at Plan A allows me to do that every single day; in other words, I love what I do. I have worked in the service industry for many years as a Server, which is what I currently do part-time. My experience has taught me to understand how crucial staffing is to the value and success of any business, as well as the power of having an approachable attitude towards clients and staff. As the Lead Recruiter, I am expected to meet the staffing demands of Plan A before the need strikes. I am responsible for all job postings, resume screenings, interview bookings, conducting interviews, and more.
Being offered the position of a Recruiter at Plan A couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, nor could it have been a more perfect fit. I hadn’t even graduated from Cambrian and I already had a full-time job waiting for me once I received my diploma. I love what I do, I love who I work beside every day, and I have the most amazing boss. The positive atmosphere and creativity in the office makes me miss being at work when I’m not there, and it has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. What’s that quote? “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”? Those words perfectly describe my feelings towards what I do every day.
Well, how did I do?
Well done Tessa. My Life Coach once told me…. ” if you open your heart and mouth at the same time it will always be perfect”. You definitely did that. Looking forward to your next blog. All the best. Plan A Rocks.
