Recently, a colleague posted a quote by Sheryl Sandberg on social media. It caught my eye, first because Sheryl is a favorite and second because it resonated with me. It read as follows:

If you are offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat! Just get on.

I have come to realize how true this is and how loudly it speaks. When opportunity arises, sometimes you just need to go for it. Jumping into an opportunity with both feet running was the best thing I have ever done for my career. I have so much to be thankful and grateful for because I took a leap and I encourage everyone to do the same.

When I was offered a seat on a rocket ship, I didn’t jump on right away. The old me over thought any change and stayed stuck in the same place. Soon enough though I realized how much opportunity this rocket ship called Plan A brought and the rockets on this team were the exact people I knew I needed to work with. So, I eventually made the leap and joined Plan A; spending a year and a half in my role there, I admired the work and solutions this business brought to Northern Ontario. I worked hard to maintain the culture as set out by our founder and ensured the best possible experience for our clients and staff.

Most recently, I was offered another opportunity as a Solution Sales Specialist at Plan A’s sister company StaffStat. Another colleague and I were approached with the idea and we both immediately jumped from one rocket ship to another. The solution that StaffStat brings to health care is saving time and money while solving a major pain point. StaffStat has automated the call out process and can connect with an unlimited number of staff in a matter of minutes. Schedulers can spend up to 90 minutes calling down lists of staff to fill voids in their schedules; StaffStat does the calling in minutes putting time and money back into the home! I’m very familiar with StaffStat and the value it brings as it was a trade secret of Plan A’s; allowing that business to grow so much, so quickly.

I am now fortunate enough to share the value of StaffStat with others who easily recognize its worth. When I speak of StaffStat and the solution it brings, it does not feel like work at all. I love being able to bring a solid solution to health care, specifically long term care. The people I have had the opportunity to meet and work with in the few short weeks I have been part of this team have proved to me how much I am going to love this job!

By jumping on board with these two fast moving companies I have had the opportunity for more growth than I ever imagined: the opportunity to think outside of the box, the opportunity to meet new people, the chance to push my comfort zones like nothing I’ve ever experienced and the opportunity to work along side some outstanding ladies. I count my blessings every day.

I encourage everyone reading this post to jump onto a new opportunity, and enjoy the ride! A rocket ship brings so much more than just a fast paced ride, amazing opportunities for growth and learning are a guaranteed luxury!
