Why I’m Ditching New Year’s Resolutions in 2019

I read this on a post the other day.  I wish I wrote it but I didn’t!  It spoke volumes to me.

I have always hated New Year’s Resolutions.  We all make promises to ourselves that we never keep.  But what I have always loved about a resolution is the intention!  We all have such great intentions!

What if for once we resolve to not make a resolution at New Years?

Reflecting back on the past year of our lives, what went well?  What could we have gone better?  And what can we change in order to get to where we want to be?

If there is one thing this past year has taught me it is that life doesn’t always go as planned.  And you know what?  That is okay.

Everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t like it.

As 2019 begins, start the year with good intention!

Find that magic, that fire inside of you!  Take time to love yourself all over again; people fall in love a second time with others so why not yourself?  It’s time you find love within yourself.

Ask yourself daily, what is your plan?  You can spend your day stressing and worrying about things you can’t change.  Or you can focus and take action on the things you can change.

One step at a time.  One foot in front of the other.  Don’t look back.  The past is gone.  The future is bright. And today is all you have promised. Be good. Be kind.

One thing I plan on doing is starting a jar of good intentions.  Every time something goes well and I am happy with something I have achieved, big or small I will write it down and put it in the jar.  I won’t make myself a promise to do this daily but the jar is there and ready to be filled!

In a year from now, I will open up the jar and reflect on all the positive and start planning my intentions for the next year!

Happy New Year!
