If you’re not already on the podcast train, here are 3, of many, potential reasons why you should consider adding them to your daily routine:
- The Variety
Whether you want to learn, laugh or get inspired, podcast options are limitless. All you need to do is open your podcast app or Spotify and do a quick search on anything you find interesting. With the ability to browse by category or just type in a topic in the search bar, you’re sure to find something you like! When you find that ‘certain something’, you can subscribe and download current and all old episodes (For FREE!).
Some of my favorites:
The GaryVee Audio Experience – If you’re looking to get motivated, look no further!
TED Talks Daily – Short, to the point and varied in topics, this is a daily listening ritual of mine.
Your Next Shift with Elizabeth Scala – Inspired listening for nurses, new and seasoned!
- The ability to listen anywhere, anytime!
In today’s fast-paced world, you can listen to podcasts anytime, anywhere – while you work out, while you go for a walk, while you do the dishes and while you’re driving to work. You can make the most of your time by downloading episodes, listening and learning something new and informative, whenever you want. Stop an episode and it will pick up right where you left off.
- Learn to listen
When we’re sitting with someone face-to-face, how often are we really 100% focused on what the other person is saying? The answer? Not often! Given every distraction that’s trekking through your mind as well as our natural instinct to want to formulate responses before the other person is even done speaking, you’re not alone. What does this have to do with the various benefits of listening to podcasts? Without a visual, you’re consistently practicing your listening skills when you’re exploring podcasts.
If you have podcasts that you love, leave them in the comments! The best way to build a library that’s filled with great podcasts is via suggestions from others.
