Becoming More Empathetic While Working In The Long Term Care Sector

Empathy: The ability to understand and share the feelings or experiences of another.

In the Long Term Care Sector it is so important to have empathy for our elderly so you can start to understand what they’re going through and how you can provide the very best care for them. 

Residents in LTC facilities are often affected by speech, visual, mobility and hearing impairments, which can make it more difficult for them to go about their daily lives and often requiring more assistance from others. 

Today, I wanted to share a great resource that I’ve found from the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research & Innovation in Long Term Care that can help staff develop empathy for residents who are affected:
